Top 10 Instagram accounts in 2026: which figures are known?
The SocialCrawl ranking included a selection of 21 accounts on 17 September 2026. These were the first two:

These figures correspond to the stated count date. They do not show how many followers the accounts have today.
The list of the most followed accounts from IGDetective also uses its own selection and does not check all of Instagram. Some counts have no date. The same leaders in two lists therefore do not mean that all accounts were compared.
Positions 3 to 10 have not been established here. Adding known names or older figures would not produce a reliable top 10 for 2026.
Most followed Instagram accounts: people, brands and clubs
The largest account is not always owned by a person. Instagram’s profile belongs to the platform itself. Ronaldo has a personal profile. That is why ‘the largest account’ and ‘the most followed person’ give different answers.
For a list of women, brands or sports clubs, you first need to decide which profiles count. For example, a footballer’s personal profile does not belong in a list of clubs.
The most followed woman in 2026 cannot be established from these figures. The same applies to the order of brands and clubs. To compare them, you need more counts, preferably from the same day.

How to check a ranking of Instagram followers
Want to know which account has the most followers today? Compare the profiles in this order:
- Choose which group you are comparing. Do you mean all accounts, people only or, for example, sports clubs only?
- Record the correct profile. Check that you are not viewing a fan account or a profile with a similar name.
- Collect figures from the same day. Write down the count date and where you found it for each figure.
- Watch out for rounded figures. At 679,7 million, you cannot see the exact number of followers. Do not turn it into a more precise figure yourself.
- Put the figures in descending order. Have you not checked all possible candidates? Then call it a ranking of the accounts you selected.
Cannot open a profile? Use a source with a clear count date instead. If the date is missing, leave the figure out of a comparison of current figures.
For the Netherlands and Belgium, you still need to choose something. Are you comparing people of that nationality, people who live there or Dutch speaking accounts? Choose one group before you start. Otherwise, you will mix different groups together.
What you can learn from large Instagram accounts
Do not look only at the follower count, but also at a few posts. Then choose one idea that suits your own profile:
- Make your subject clear. Can you quickly tell what the large profile is about? Then look at your own profile: is it also clear what you share?
- Try a regular series. A fictional example: every Sunday, you share a photo of your walk, with the location and one practical tip.
- Add something with your caption. With a photo, explain why you wanted to share that particular moment.
