That is a figure recorded on a specific date, not a live counter. When checking a ranking, always verify when the figures were recorded and whether the list concerns subscribers or views.

How do you compare the largest YouTube channels?
By the largest YouTube channel, people usually mean the channel with the most subscribers. A list based on views may have a different order. So first check what a ranking counts.
Also pay attention to which channels are included. A global list with all channels is different from a list containing only individual creators. For example, a channel may belong to a company. And one well known creator may have a large team behind them.

Why do more YouTube subscribers not always mean more views?
A subscriber is an account that follows a channel. A view is a counted view of a video. You can watch a video without subscribing. Conversely, you can follow a channel without watching every new video.
Views are also not the same as unique viewers. One person can watch multiple videos. When you add up those views, you are counting viewing occasions, not separate people.
Fictional example: Channel A has 1 million subscribers. A new video on that channel has 80.000 views. Channel B has 400.000 subscribers and a new video with 200.000 views. A has more subscribers, but B’s video has been watched more often.
These figures do not show what proportion of subscribers watched. For that, you need to know which views came from subscribers. Also give both videos the same amount of time before comparing the figures.
The same applies when you compare MrBeast and T Series. A higher position on the subscriber list does not automatically mean a higher position on the views list. For that comparison, you need both types of figures from the same point in time.
How accurate are public YouTube subscriber figures?
According to YouTube’s explanation of subscriber counts public figures are abbreviated. Between 100 and 999 million, the visible figure changes by one million. YouTube removes closed accounts and spam subscribers from the total.
The public counter therefore gives an indication of a channel’s size. You cannot see every new subscriber on it. Two channels with the same visible figure do not necessarily have exactly the same number of subscribers.

- Check which channels are included. A list containing only individual creators is not the same as a global list with all channels.
- Compare figures from the same point in time. Do not place the current number for one channel next to an old milestone for another.
