For an Instagram Reel or video in your feed, you cannot see who only watched it. You can see counts, likes and comments. For a video in your Story, you can see viewers’ names while the list is available. So first check where your video appears: in your Story, as a Reel or as another post.

Which Instagram videos show viewers’ names?
Where you post a video determines whether you can see names. This overview shows the difference.

With Live, there is therefore a difference between watching during the broadcast and viewing a shared recording later.
How to view the viewers of your Instagram Story video
Open your own Story video and look for the viewers list. Does your Story have several parts? Open the part you want to check. Someone may see your first clip and leave before the next part.

Is the viewers list missing? Check that you opened your own Story, not the Reel you shared in it. For an older Story, the list may no longer be available. No list does not automatically mean that nobody watched.
A name in the list does not tell you whether someone watched the entire clip attentively. You also cannot see why that person watched.

Instagram Reels and videos in your feed do not show a viewers list
For Reels and videos among your regular posts, you do not get a list of people who only watch. ReplyMind explains the difference between views and viewers’ names the counter does not show which accounts viewed your video.
You can see names for likes and comments. These are only the accounts that take that action, not all viewers. Someone who does not follow you can also watch without responding.
If you share a Reel in your Story, the viewers list belongs to that Story. It is not a list of everyone who played the original Reel.

These Instagram video statistics are available to view
With a professional account, you can get additional statistics. These are summaries containing figures about your posts. Which figures are available varies by video type and feature. These summaries also do not show hidden viewers’ names.

Open the statistics overview for your own video, if available. Read the explanation for a number before using it. Want to compare two videos and is a figure missing from one? Then use only figures you can see for both.

Apps cannot prove who viewed your Instagram video
Do not trust apps or websites that promise hidden viewers’ names for Reels. They may show followers, likes or recent comments as though they were a viewers list. That data does not prove who viewed your video.
- Do not enter your Instagram password on an unknown website that promises viewers’ names.
- Do not pay to supposedly reveal hidden names.
- Do not give an app access to your account just to test such a list.
Have you already shared your password? Change it and check which apps have access to your account. Revoke access you do not recognise. Also turn on two factor authentication. This requires an additional check besides your password when logging in.
How to compare your Instagram video views
Want to know which clip gets more attention? Compare the same type of videos over the same period. For example, look at the first seven days after posting for two Reels. Compare the views, accounts reached and comments.
Fictional example: Your beach walk video has 900 views and 600 accounts reached. You divide the number of views by the number of accounts reached: 900 ÷ 600 = 1,5 views per account reached.
That is an average. It does not mean every account watched exactly the same number of times. This shows why 900 views is not the same as 900 different viewers.
Want to know whether people found your clip interesting? Also look at what they write in their comments and check the watch time, if available. The number of views alone does not tell you that.
Are you considering buy Instagram views? Keep purchased numbers separate when comparing your videos. They do not prove genuine attention or reach that occurred naturally. They also do not make viewers’ names visible.
