These are different options. Then try another public post. Therefore, first find the sharing method you need. Look for the option to share it to your story. You do not need the Repost button for this.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"repost-knop-ontbreekt\">No Repost button on an Instagram post or Reel<\/h2>\n<p>Meta announced in August 2025 <a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2025\/08\/new-instagram-features-help-you-connect\/\">Instagram Reposts<\/a> for public Reels and regular posts, with credit to the original creator. This is different from sharing to your story.<\/p>\n<p>Do you not see a Repost button? Compare the post with another public post:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the post or Reel you want to repost.<\/li>\n<li>See which options you get for sharing the post. The name and location of a button may differ.<\/li>\n<li>Open another public post or Reel and see whether you can repost it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Does it work for the second post? Then look further into the first post and the creator&#8217;s sharing settings. Is the option missing for several posts? Then continue with the checks for your app. The comparison helps you decide where to look next, but does not yet provide a certain cause.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"bericht-in-verhaal\">You cannot share an Instagram post to your story<\/h2>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/techyorker.com\/cant-share-post-to-instagram-story-why-not\/\">tests by TechYorker<\/a> privacy, sharing settings, the type of post or app problems may play a role. A feature may also not yet be available for every account. These are possible causes, not a certain explanation for your problem.<\/p>\n<p>Can you send a post to someone but not add it to your story? Then sending works, but the option you are looking for is missing. Check the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Try another public post.<\/strong> Choose a post from another creator and see whether you can share it to your story.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ask the creator to check the settings.<\/strong> Ask whether others are allowed to share the post to their stories.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Write down what is missing.<\/strong> For example: \u201cI can send the post, but I do not see an option to add it to my story.\u201d This is helpful when reporting the problem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do you only want to show the post to a friend? Then use an available option to send it within Instagram. It will not appear in your story, but your friend will be able to view it.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"story-met-tag\">You cannot share an Instagram Story after being tagged<\/h2>\n<p>First, check whether the creator mentioned the correct account. This is also called tagging. Simply adding your name as regular text in the Story is not the same.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the post containing the mention, if you received it.<\/li>\n<li>Check whether you can still view the original Story.<\/li>\n<li>Check whether you see an option there to add the Story to your own story.<\/li>\n<li>If in doubt, ask the creator to check the mention and sharing settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Can you no longer open the Story? Then ask whether it is still available. Repeatedly looking for the share button will not help if you cannot view the original Story.<\/p>\n<p>A tag does not automatically mean that you can share the Story. You also cannot assume that every public Story can be reshared without a tag. Check which options Instagram offers for that Story.<\/p>\n<p>Can the creator not mention your account? Read <a href=\"https:\/\/volgers-kopen.io\/waarom-kan-ik-iemand-niet-taggen-op-instagram\/\">why you cannot tag someone on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"priveaccount\">Reposting an Instagram post from a private account<\/h2>\n<p>Being able to view a post because you follow the creator does not mean that you can also share it with your own followers. Access to a post is different from permission to distribute it further.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, ask what the creator allows. For example: \u201cMay I add this photo to my own story, or do you want to share it only with your followers?\u201d You do not need to ask the creator to make the account public for this.<\/p>\n<p>A missing share button by itself does not mean that Instagram has restricted your account. First compare several posts. Do you see a notification about a restriction? Then read exactly what it says and for which action the notification appears.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"app-controleren\">Checking your Instagram app when reposting does not work<\/h2>\n<p>Can you not share several posts? Then check your app. After each step, try sharing the same post. This will show you whether anything changes.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Close Instagram completely and reopen the app.<\/strong> Then check whether the share option is available.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check whether an update is available.<\/strong> To do this, check the official app store on your phone.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check your connection.<\/strong> Are photos and videos also loading poorly? Then try another trusted connection.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Restart your phone.<\/strong> Open Instagram and try again.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Report the problem through Instagram&#8217;s help options.<\/strong> Include what type of post you want to share, which option is missing and whether it also happens with other posts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>These steps can help you try to identify a temporary app problem. They will not give you a sharing option that is unavailable for your account or that post.<\/p>\n<p>Do not delete the app immediately. If you still want to reinstall Instagram, first check that you can log in again. Also check whether you still need drafts that are stored only on your phone.<\/p>\n<h3>Are other actions not working either?<\/h3>\n<p>Then view the explanation for that action: <a href=\"https:\/\/volgers-kopen.io\/waarom-kan-ik-iemand-niet-volgen-op-instagram\/\">why you cannot follow someone on Instagram<\/a>, what you can do if you <a href=\"https:\/\/volgers-kopen.io\/kan-niet-antwoorden-instagram-berichten\/\">cannot reply to Instagram messages<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/volgers-kopen.io\/waarom-kan-ik-niet-reageren-op-instagram\/\">cannot comment on Instagram<\/a>. These problems do not necessarily have the same cause.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"opnieuw-plaatsen\">Reposting manually when reposting on Instagram does not work<\/h2>\n<p>You can ask the creator for permission to upload the photo or video yourself. This will not restore the repost feature: you are creating a new post. Agree in advance where you may use the material.<\/p>\n<p>For example, ask: \u201cMay I post this video to my Instagram story and mention your account?\u201d After receiving permission, preferably ask for the original file. This helps prevent a recording showing menus or notifications on screen.<\/p>\n<p>Use a screenshot or screen recording only as a last resort, with permission and clear credit to the creator. Adding only the creator&#8217;s name does not replace that permission.<\/p>\n<p>Also pay attention to people, private information and music in the photo or video. The person who posted it does not automatically have all the rights to these.<\/p>\n<p>Do not give your password to a service that claims it can unlock the missing repost feature. Can you still not share after the checks? Ask the creator how you can share the post with permission, or do not repost it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cannot repost on Instagram?
