You then won\u2019t need to remove any text or logo to reuse the video.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing a video file is different from sharing a link. With the file, you create a Reel that you can watch on Instagram. A link directs people to your post on TikTok.<\/p>\n<p>Check these three points before sharing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Footage:<\/strong> Did you make it yourself? If not, do you have permission to share it on Instagram?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Music:<\/strong> Are you also allowed to use the song outside TikTok? Being able to choose it there does not automatically mean that you may use it elsewhere.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Privacy:<\/strong> Are recognisable people in your video also happy for you to share it on Instagram? Check whether addresses, number plates or other personal information is visible as well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>TikTok explains in its <a href=\"https:\/\/support.tiktok.com\/nl\/account-and-privacy\/account-privacy-settings\/video-downloads?lang=nl\">download settings<\/a> how creators decide whether others may download their videos. However, permission to download a video is not permission to republish it. You must also be allowed to use the footage and sound for that.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"tiktok-downloaden\">Downloading your own TikTok video for Instagram<\/h2>\n<p>First, check your gallery and the app you used to edit the video. You may still have a saved video file there. In an editing app, this is also called an export.<\/p>\n<p>Is the video only still on TikTok? Open your own video and check the sharing options to see whether you can save it.<\/p>\n<p>According to TikTok\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/support.tiktok.com\/nl\/using-tiktok\/exploring-videos\/video-downloads\">explanation of downloading videos<\/a> you can save a video if the creator allows downloads. If that option is missing from someone else\u2019s video, the creator has not allowed it.<\/p>\n<p>Play the saved video in your gallery. Is it the right version? Can you hear the sound, and is the ending complete?<\/p>\n<p>Can\u2019t save your own video? Search again for the original file or your saved edit. The download setting for other viewers does not automatically explain why you cannot save your own video. Do not give your login details to an unknown download site.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"reel-plaatsen\">Posting your TikTok as an Instagram Reel<\/h2>\n<p>Is the file on your phone? You can then add it to Instagram. The buttons and screens may differ between app versions.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Start a new Reel.<\/strong> In Instagram, choose an existing video, not a new recording.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Choose the video from your gallery.<\/strong> If there are several versions on your phone, check which one you need.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check the footage.<\/strong> Are faces, hands and important text still visible? Don\u2019t crop off an edge if something important happens there.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Listen to the sound.<\/strong> Can you hear your voice clearly? Listen to the sound already in the file before adding music.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Add a caption and cover.<\/strong> Also check who can see your Reel.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Watch the full preview and post your Reel.<\/strong> After posting, check once more that the beginning, ending and sound are correct.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You cannot simply adjust text and music that are already in the video file separately. Want to change something? Open your original edit and save a new version.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"watermerk\">Should you leave a TikTok watermark on Instagram?<\/h2>\n<p>Use the original without a TikTok watermark if you still have it. That way, no logo covers an important detail and you can more easily choose a clear cover.<\/p>\n<p>Only have the watermarked version? Check whether it is still easy to follow. A watermark on its own does not mean that your Reel will get less reach. Don\u2019t assume that Instagram always shows every video with a TikTok watermark to fewer people.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t simply crop out the watermark. In a cooking video, this could also remove the edge of the pan or an ingredient from view. In that case, use the original file instead. Do not remove someone else\u2019s name or watermark to share their video as your own work.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"bijschrift\">Adjusting the caption, hashtags and cover for Reels<\/h2>\n<p>You don\u2019t need to remake everything. Above all, check that your text is clear to someone who sees your video only on Instagram.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Caption:<\/strong> adjust references to TikTok and briefly explain what happens in the video.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hashtags:<\/strong> choose words that suit the video. Don\u2019t simply copy the entire list from TikTok.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cover:<\/strong> choose an image that immediately shows what your video is about.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Text on screen:<\/strong> check the preview. Is everything readable, and is the text not too close to the edge?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A fictional example: you share a video in which you paint a plant pot. You could write: \u201cAn old pot, two colours of paint and a free afternoon. In your phone\u2019s settings, also check whether Instagram has access to those photos and videos.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>The upload gets stuck<\/td>\n<td>Check your internet connection and try playing the video in your gallery. Save your caption before closing the app or starting again.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>The sound is missing<\/td>\n<td>Listen to the file in your gallery. Is the sound missing there too? Save a new version from your original edit. If you can hear sound there, check whether Instagram displays a notice about the sound.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>The footage is blurry or something is outside the frame<\/td>\n<td>Compare the video with the original. It is better to use that file than a version that has been saved and forwarded many times. Also check which part of the footage is visible in your Reel.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>The video is there, but the caption is missing<\/td>\n<td>Add the caption to the Reel yourself. Note whether the length, beginning and sound are the same. Did you change something? That may contribute to the difference you see.<\/p>\n<p>Keep views and unique viewers separate. The number of views is not automatically the number of different people who saw your video. Likes and comments combined are also a number of actions, not a number of unique people.<\/p>\n<p>Read the comments too. Do viewers understand your explanation, or do they often ask the same question? This helps you choose what to make clearer in a future video.
